Public opinion research on
feminism
Research conducted among women students of the University of Zagreb, Faculty
of Philosophy; aim: researching what young women in Croatia think of feminism
and feminists (results published in the magazine "Bread & Roses",
issue 9, 1998)
Comparative analysis of feminist
dictionaries
Comparative analysis of feminist dictionaries (published in "Bread
& Roses", issue 11, 1999).
Content analysis of media
prior to pre-election campaign 1999/2000
Content analysis of news watches and similar TV broadcasts, as well as
articles in printed media in the pre-election period in Croatia (published
in the brochures "Women
and Elections '99" (only in Croatian) and "Elections
in Croatia 2000 - 20 % is (not) Enough".
Analysis of printed media
Research "Demon
on the Shoulder" (only in Croatian). The research was conducted
on the sample of 183 newspaper articles, taken from the Zenska Infoteka
database, for October 2000. Due to the fact that selected sample was "convenient",
our intention was not to make any final decision, but primarily to indicate
to movements that dominate in our media.
We were interested to find out who are the women appearing in local newspapers;
how journalists describe them; in which time-space terms journalists think;
how is the media space divided between state and civil society…
Research on violence
against women
Research conducted by the method of content analysis of printed media
in February 2003. This research wants to determine to what extent the
media are covering the problem of violence against women, the media space
that is dedicated to it as well as profile of victims, perpetrator and
violent act. The results are published in a brochure "Violence
against Women".
Content analysis of
printed media prior to election campaign 2003
Brochure Marginalisation
of women politicians in the media: results of daily newspapers' analysis
contains results of one-week monitoring and content analysis of daily
newspapers, published before official beginning of election campaign in
November 2003. It is continuance of previous pre-election research and
it also brings review on representation of women in legislative and executive
authority.
